We’re looking for a Senior Developer to join our fast paced and growing organisation as part of an established and dynamic software development team.

The Role

Utilitywise are looking for a Senior Developer to join our fast paced and growing organisation. The Senior Developer will act as a senior member of an established software development and support team, working with project stakeholders and developers to build the best software solution for the business and ensure smooth, competent delivery of all solutions.

This role is based in the UK.


Responsible for supporting the development manager in leading the development team in developing, maintaining and championing business software solutions including, but not restricted to: CRM systems, company intranet, field-sales mobile app, telephony software and data visualisation tools.

 Software Development

  • Produce and deliver superior technical solutions;
  • To keep up to date with the latest software development technologies and techniques in order to discuss them for inclusion within software solutions;
  • Recognises system deficiencies and suggests effective solutions;
  • Work with the technical lead and systems development manager to identify changes required to our development environment to keep up with growing business demand.

Leadership & Communication

  • Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments;
  • Assist in critical support issues where advanced project experience is required and provide fast and appropriate resolution;
  • Generate enthusiasm, teamwork and vigour within the development team;
  • Regularly look to challenge themselves and push their limitations;
  • Review work of the team – peer reviews, pair programming, etc.;
  • To work towards an aligned goal set by line management;
  • Support end-users with project documentation and assistance;
  • Facilitate effective team collaboration and acknowledges team contributions;
  • To challenge team members and recognise their qualities seeking to further develop the team.



  • Degree-level education



  • A minimum of 5 years commercial software development experience;
  • Can demonstrate strong experience leading projects;
  • Proven experience of performing all technical aspects related to a full development lifecycle;
  • In depth knowledge of current coding techniques and best practices;
  • Extensive experience in:
    • ASP.NET Core
    • Angular or other Javascript application frameworks
    • MS SQL Server 2014/2016
    • RESTful API delivery and design
    • Dependency Injection and Inversion of Control
    • SOLID principles
    • Source Control (GIT / TFS)


  • Experience with the following:
    • NET Webforms
    • NET MVC
    • jQuery
    • SOAP Webservices
    • Knowledge on containerized applications with tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
    • Continuous Integration and Deployment

Personal Qualities, Aptitudes & Skills

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to portray complex technical issues to both colleagues and project stakeholders;
  • Ability to seek out and suggest new or proven architectural paradigms and understand the advantages and disadvantages of suggested approaches;
  • Highly proficient with HTML, CSS, Javascript, .Net (C# and VB), MVC, SQL and version control (TFS/Git).
