We are seeking a Data Analyst – Energy to join our Strategic Partners & Alliances team, based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Location: UK – Head Office / Newcastle

The Role

The Data Analyst is responsible for tracking and analysing trends and performance of each supplier in areas such as pricing and products, as well as reporting internal supplier KPIs eg. Sales performance, supplier mix and quality metrics such as go-live and compliance levels. This information will need to be analysed in a very detailed manner – tracking trends and observations per sales channel and customer type.

The Data Analyst will help forge new, and build existing supplier relationships by supporting the team with regular insight and direction, alongside demonstrating the financial & commercial impact of any insights gained. These insights will also be used to provide the SP&A and Operational team with recommendations and performance updates.

The Data Analyst will also be responsible for competitor and market analysis, and highlighting any new entrants or changes to competitor/supplier proposition/strategy.

The ideal candidate must be meticulous with data comparison, financial modelling and trend charting. The Partner Account Manager will also be expected to become a supplier expert and know their suppliers deeply and have a fundamental understanding of where the energy supply market is going (in terms of product, legislation, compliance, strategy, margins etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Market intelligence – gaining insight into supplier movement, new market entries and products;
  • Analysing information provided from weekly pricing comparison graphs and reporting on changes, market conditions driving prices, and impacts;
  • Sales performance reporting and impact modelling (against targets, commercial, cash position);
  • Supplier mix trend reporting and impact modelling (against targets, commercial, cash position);
  • Managing supplier meeting agendas, progress and supplier information decks;
  • Maintaining supplier and operational relationships to utilise the data analysed.

Experience

Essential

  • Data Analysis experience;
  • Demonstrated consistent success in forming and building relationships internally and externally;
  • Experience in creating robust, clear and articulate business plans and growth strategies, and to be able to model the impact of supplier mix shifting and new supplier onboarding;
  • Evidence of excellence in reporting on and monitoring account progress;
  • Experience in commercial modelling/impact verification.

Desirable

  • Ideally a working knowledge of the utilities sector, including supplier product offerings;
  • Experience in writing and presenting review presentations.

Personal Qualities, Aptitudes, and Skills

  • Refined presentation and communication skills;
  • Can work closely with Sales and Product Marketing to identify company needs ;
  • Comfortable numerically, and familiar with managing performance via KPIs, with the discipline to interrogate the data to identify trends, issues and successes from a range of sources;
  • Proficient in MS Office applications;
  • Strong work ethic is resourceful, assertive and takes initiative;
  • Very strong written communication skills;
  • Highly organised;
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and cross-functional teams, and third parties;
  • Results-oriented, analytical, pragmatic, innovative, strategically-aware, commercially-minded self-starter.

Additional information

  • Proof of eligibility to work within the UK;
  • International travel required;
  • Willing to travel occasionally for supplier meetings.
