Our Edd:e circuit level monitoring system provides a huge amount of information about a sites energy use. Sometimes it reveals energy being wasted in the most unlikely place. Recently one of our staff noticed a spike in the energy use for one of our client’s during the time when the office was closed, because Edd:e shows energy use at the circuit-level she was able to identify that it was three vending machines that were consuming the power. She could isolate how much money was being spent keeping these machines on.
To power the machines during the time the office was closed cost £1.74 per day. This might not sound a lot, but over the course of a year it amounts to £635.10, just for the three machines at that site. The client has ten sites so they were wasting £6,350 per year.
A few pounds spent on time-controlled switches wiped that wasted energy out.
